FAQs

Do I need an appointment?
No appointment necessary! We are fully staffed and prepared to work with you.
Do I need to sort my jewelry first?
No! We have friendly staff that is happy to help!
Is my jewelry at risk?
Excellent question! At many other places yes. The reason why is because most jewelry stores and pawn shops use an acid to test your precious metals. That process requires scratching and even cutting into your jewelry with a file. We use a state-of-the-art Thermo Scientific Niton, an x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer. This is an x-ray gun which is used to directly test your jewelry. It will allow us to digitally read what percentage of gold/silver you have in each piece of jewelry we analyze.
Does US Gold and Diamond Exchange buy diamonds and other precious stones?
YES. We buy diamonds in many sizes, shapes & qualities. Occasionally we may have a large inventory of a particular size or shape diamond, causing a “low demand” effect for that particular stone. If this situation should arise, we can seek out pricing through one of our distributers who may buy these diamonds direct from us. You may also take advantage of our consignment program. Please don’t hesitate to ask about how our consignment program works!
Do we buy coins and Bullion?
Yes. We buy and sell coins and bullion at very competitive prices.
Can a magnet determine if a piece is real or fake?
We do test using a high powered jeweler’s magnet against most pieces of jewelry to see if the jewelry sticks. This is just one step in helping to determine the authenticity of an item. Household magnets will not work as they do not have the necessary power.
If an item is stamped “GOLD”, is it real?
Most times yes. However there are many fakes floating around that look real and even have stamps that say 10k or 14k, etc. Always feel free to bring in your items for a free evaluation with absolutely no obligation to sell and a hassle free transaction.
Do I need to be 18 years old to sell?
Yes. The law states that you must be 18 years old or older to sell and must provide a valid picture I.D.
